Hi Natalie: Well, my empty nest has come on strong — I was doing fine until about a couple of weeks ago. Saturday I take Simone back east to school. It’s been a very difficult time of grief, anxiety, and stress. I’ve been blogging about it a lot on my emptying the nest blog – you can link to that if you like for your blog roll. Let’s get in touch! I hope you’re doing well – last time we talked you were headed to Europe to see your daughter.
This is my first visit to the site but not my last, I am sure.
This is really hard for me since I have been a single parent for over 14 years. Not only are my kids gone, one off to college and one already graduated (he was away at school, too) but my partner in my business of many years is retiring, too. The changes are coming too fast for me and I know I have to figure out what to do next. Still, I am grateful for all of the time I had with my wonderful children.
What next for me? That is the question of each day…
Helen
Great site. . . I’ll be back, that’s for sure.
Joe
I am so glad to know there are other people out there feeling like I do right now! I just moved my only child, only son, off to college. Driving off nearly broke my heart. All I have done for the last 18 years was to take care of him. Oh, I have a career, but my son is the most important person in my life. We have a very close and wonderful relationship. We can talk about anything with each other. I cry. I look forward to his calls. I love to hear his voice. I miss him so much. I feel lost in this world right now, but I hope it gets better. I love my son!
